Dirk Neubauer (non-party), District Administrator of Central Saxony, would like to leave his post for good at the end of March next year. Neubauer is planning an orderly transition for his successor.

Middle Saxony's district administrator Dirk Neubauer (non-party) would like to leave his post for good at the end of March next year. He has applied to the responsible state directorate in Saxony for his dismissal from the office of district administrator with effect from March 31, 2025, the district announced. Neubauer chose this date in order to allow his successor an orderly transition.

Last week, Neubauer announced his resignation. He justified this with personal hostility from right-wing forces and a lack of opportunities to assert himself against a conservative majority in the region. Neubauer is the only one of the current district councillors in Saxony who did not come into office on a CDU ticket, but was supported by the Left, SPD and Greens.

When a new district administrator will be elected has not yet been finalized. The district administration office is proposing January 26, 2025 for the first round of voting and February 16, 2025 for a possible second round. The district council must decide on the dates. It meets on August 14.
