Structural change is in full swing in the Lusatian mining district. Municipal projects are intended to help revitalize the region - as in Rietschen.

The former agricultural warehouse in Rietschen in the district of Görlitz is to become a modern office building for co-working and consulting. The Free State of Bavaria is supporting the conversion with 2.9 million euros from the Coal Regions Fund. The three-storey listed building acquired by the municipality will be completely gutted, renovated and a modern extension added. In future, it will also be used for conference and commercial purposes.

Ministry: a boost for the region

Saxony's regional development ministry sees this as an important boost for the region. Offering innovative forms of work in a structurally weak, rural area helps to make the Lusatian mining district an attractive place to live and work. The project creates the basis for new jobs and contributes to the revitalization of the town near the Polish border.
