Last summer, a group of suspected left-wing extremists allegedly attacked people in a park in Zwickau. Now apartments in Saxony and Thuringia have been searched.

Following an attack by suspected left-wing extremists on ten people in a park in Zwickau, police have searched apartments in Saxony and Thuringia. Evidence such as brass knuckles and batons as well as cell phones and laptops were seized, according to the Saxon State Criminal Police Office (LKA). Seven suspects aged between 16 and 34 are being investigated. The attack is said to have taken place last summer.

The masked, "presumably politically left-wing oriented persons" are said to have attacked a group in Schlobigpark in Zwickau with telescopic batons and pepper spray at the end of July 2024, according to the LKA. Three people had to be treated as outpatients afterwards. The group of attackers comprised ten to 15 people; seven men have been identified.

Officers from the state criminal investigation offices in Saxony and Thuringia searched apartments in Zwickau, Schwarzenberg and Dresden as well as in the Saalfeld region. They are being investigated for particularly serious breach of the peace. The suspects are already known to the police for other offenses.
