Minister of Culture Clemens must temporarily surrender his driver's license. He is said to have driven more than twice as fast as permitted in a 30 km/h zone in eastern Saxony.

Minister of Culture Conrad Clemens has been banned from driving for two months and fined. The reason: he was caught driving at 80 km/h in a 30 km/h zone in Krauschwitz (Görlitz district), as reported by Radio Lausitz.

"Yes, I made a mistake"

According to the report, he had initially lodged an objection so that the case would be heard as an administrative offense at Weißwasser district court. However, he withdrew this and registered for a driving fitness seminar. "Yes, I made a mistake. I take full responsibility for that," he told the broadcaster.

Clemens admitted to driving too fast when asked by dpa. The incident dates back to 2023, when he was not yet Minister of Culture, but State Secretary and Plenipotentiary of the Free State of Saxony to the Federal Government.
