Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) will make his first government statement of the new legislative period in the state parliament today (from 10.00 a.m.). The speech is entitled "Courageously breaking new ground. In responsibility for Saxony".
In fact, the cabinet has to break new ground, as this is the first time there has been a minority government in the Free State. The CDU and SPD are ten votes short of a majority in parliament.
Vote on consultation mechanism planned
The majority is to be established via a so-called consultation mechanism. To this end, the coalition parties want to involve the opposition in parliament in their own projects at an early stage and also incorporate proposals from the other parliamentary groups. An agreement on this will be put to the vote in plenary today. It is to be signed by Kretschmer and State Parliament President Alexander Dierks in the late afternoon.
Three debates planned for the current hour
At the request of the AfD, the current hour will focus on the police operation at their federal party conference in Riesa in January. Around 10,000 people protested against the party conference, which was only able to begin after a delay. The Sahra Wagenknecht alliance has called for a debate on social cohesion and wants to avoid social cuts. The SPD put the topic of volunteering and sports clubs on the agenda.
