The ThSV Eisenach handball team have once again improved their position in the Bundesliga table. The team of coach Misha Kaufmann won 31:26 (14:10) at 1. VfL Potsdam and thus climbed to tenth place. Simone Mengon played a big part in the Thuringians' success, scoring nine goals without missing an attempt and recording the best scorer in the statistics.
In front of 1,850 fans - including a vociferous Eisenach crowd - the home side from Potsdam got off to a poor start in the arena at Luftschiffhafen, enabling ThSV to open up a 3:0 lead after just five minutes. Although Eisenach also made a few inaccuracies, it nevertheless managed to take its first four-goal lead (9:5) after a quarter of an hour. This lead was then extended to 12:7 (23').
The key to this was, on the one hand, Matija Spikic's good goalkeeping in conjunction with the attacking defense and, on the other, the convincing performance of Eisenach's backcourt. After the break, Gian Attenhofer made it 20:11 (39') and so set the course for victory early on.
