Third division soccer club Dynamo Dresden has strengthened the coaching team around head coach Markus Anfang. "Markus Anfang, his team and the squad have our full confidence. We are all firmly convinced that we can continue to work successfully with him as head coach and achieve our major goal of promotion at the end of the season. Furthermore, it is our clear intention to take the path into the future together with the current coaching team in the long term and regardless of the league," the club stated in a press release on Wednesday.
On the previous evening, the supervisory board, the management of the sports community and the board's advisor, Ulf Kirsten, together with Anfang and his assistant coaches Florian Junge and Heiko Scholz, had mapped out the way forward following the release of sporting director Ralf Becker. "We would like to emphasize at this point that, contrary to media reports to the contrary, there was never any question of releasing him from his duties or setting deadlines. There was and is no ultimatum," said Dynamo's supervisory board chairman Jens Heinig.
According to reports, Anfang will be on the sidelines for two more games on probation at Dresden, who have slipped to third place. On Friday, Dynamo will host TSV 1860 Munich (19:00/MagentaSport), followed a week later by SSV Ulm, who are currently second in the table.
