A soccer fan was injured in the head during the match between FC Erzgebirge Aue and FC Energie Cottbus (1:3). He was hit in the head with an unknown object in the west stand and was taken to hospital, the police said. It is still unclear who threw the object, presumably from among the fans. The officers are investigating for dangerous bodily harm.
A police officer was also injured in the vicinity of the third division match. According to reports, this occurred when officers wanted to establish the identity of a masked Cottbus fan. The police officer suffered minor injuries but remained on duty. The police were deployed with around 350 officers in Aue-Bad Schlema (Erzgebirgskreis) and the surrounding area, according to reports.
