- RB Leipzig has compiled the best start to the season so far ahead of Saturday's home game against VfL Bochum (3.30 pm/Sky). 13 points after six games and a goal difference of +10 there was never before in RB Bundesliga history.
- Eight times RB had won in the previous nine competitive games against VfL, before in March Bochum ended this series with a 1-0 home win.
- National player Lukas Klostermann is the only RB player with a Bochum past. He played for VfL from 2010 to 2014, making his professional debut under then-coach Peter Neururer with a total of nine second-division games. He then moved to Leipzig. In addition, sports director Rouven Schröder has already worked for Bochum between 1999 and 2002 and 2007 and 2009 he was VfL player, from 2009 to early 2010 then co-coach.
- A reunion there is for new striker Lois Openda with his former and current VfL coach Thomas Letsch. Both worked together from 2020 to 2022 at Vitesse Arnhem. In 88 games, Openda marked 37 goals - more than under any other coach.
- 20:3 is the goal difference of Leipzig in the mandatory games against Bochum. The most successful scorer was Christopher Nkunku, who switched to Chelsea FC, with five goals. From the current RB squad, Yussuf Poulsen with three and Timo Werner with two goals are the most successful.
