The Niners Chemnitz have celebrated an important victory in the German Basketball League and prevented a false start. The Saxons surprisingly won 81:78 (37:41) at Alba Berlin in front of 8225 spectators. With its second win in the fourth game, Chemnitz was able to pull itself out of the basement of the table. The best scorers were Olivier Khamhoua with 21 points and Victor Bailey Jr. with 19 points.
In the rematch of the semi-final playoff of the previous season, Chemnitz did not get off to a good start. They quickly trailed 2:8, but were not impressed. They fought their way into the game with great commitment and physicality and so caused Alba a number of problems. Whereas Berlin's shooting percentage dropped, the Saxons' rose.
At the start of the second quarter, Chemnitz took the lead for the first time (24:21) and was cheered on by numerous fans who had made the journey. Every ball in the game was fiercely contested. It was not until shortly before the break that Alba exploited a weak spell by the visitors with an 11:0 run. However, Chemnitz struck back with two successful three-pointers before half-time.
Alba then came out of the locker room better and the visitors trailed by double digits for the first time (39:52). However, the visitors remained calm, then drained five buckets from beyond the arc and went back in front at the end of the third quarter (62:60). It remained tight until the end. Nkamhoua converted two free throws with 10.5 seconds to go and Alba missed the last one.
