The SC DHfK Leipzig has reacted to the long-term absence of Matej Klima and signed the Swede William Bogojevic. The club announced that the backcourt player can already be used today (4.30 p.m./Dyn) against Frisch Auf Göppingen. The 27-year-old has signed a contract in Leipzig until 2028; Bogojevic last played for the Hungarian top club Pick Szeged.
The Czech international Klima suffered a serious knee injury in the 27:28 loss in Melsungen at the end of October. In addition to a torn cruciate ligament, the 25-year-old also suffered a torn medial and lateral collateral ligament. Klima will not play again this season.
"It was important for us to sign a player with a similar profile after Matej Klíma's injury. With William, we not only get a player with a lot of power from the backcourt, but also a real competitor who wants to prove himself in the league," said Sporting Director Bastian Roschek.
Bogojevic played for IK Sävehof in his home country until 2020 before moving to Denmark to join Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. Last summer, the 1.94-meter tall backcourt player moved on to Hungary.
