Next long-term absence at RB: Ouedraogo absent for months

RB Leipzig have another long-term injury ahead of their game against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky). Assan Ouedraogo will be out for months, as the Bundesliga club announced. In the Champions League match at Inter Milan (0:1) on Tuesday, the 18-year-old injured himself shortly after coming on as an unmarked substitute and had to be substituted. Detailed examinations revealed a muscle injury with tendon involvement in his left thigh.

"This is of course a big blow for the youngster and also for us. Assan had just fought his way back into the team and showed good signs," said sporting director Marcel Schäfer. Ouedraogo, who signed from FC Schalke 04 in the summer, had only just come back from a lengthy injury break.

RB have several players who will not be available for a long time, including David Raum, Xavi Simons, Yussuf Poulsen, El Chadaille Bitshiabu and Elijf Elmas.
