RB Leipzig's Castello Lukeba has been called up to the French national team for the first time. The defender was post-nominated for the Équipe Tricolore, RB announced on Tuesday. Lukeba, just 20, joined the German Cup winners from Olympique Lyon only this summer and has recently impressed in central defense alongside his compatriot Mohamed Simakan. Both already played together in the French U-21. Now, national team coach Didier Deschamps has re-nominated Lukeba after Axel Disasi of Chelsea FC suffered a muscle injury in his thigh. Disasi was originally supposed to replace ex-Leipzig and Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano, who also injured his thigh.
In total, twelve internationals from Saxony's Bundesliga soccer team are on international duty.
