Marco Rose is taking on the challenge at struggling Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and wants to remain focused. "It's my job to turn it around together with the lads," said the coach ahead of the game against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (15:30/Sky). The Saxons have not won in their last five games in all competitions, conceding four defeats in the process. RB have slipped to third place in the Bundesliga table and are eight points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
"The edge until things get restless in Leipzig is the magic three games without a win. We've had that several times in the past two years and then had an answer. Now we're at five and should make sure it doesn't become much more to calm the situation down again," said Rose.
Rose: "Then it quickly becomes unpleasant"
He knows how quickly things can turn around in soccer. "You don't lose 19 games in a row and everything is fine. Then you get into a situation like the one we're in now with four defeats and it quickly becomes unpleasant. That's normal," said Rose. Now the turnaround has to be achieved again and that can only be done through fight and clarity.
In the defeats in Dortmund and Glasgow, the intensity, the gallantry and the greed to prevent crosses were missing. "That's what we excelled at before. We also had to make concessions when it came to moving towards the opposition goal and our willingness to take on tackles," explained Rose.
He also listed positive aspects: "In the second half in Milan, however, we took a step forward again in terms of defending," said Rose, but did not allow any excuses: "We alone are responsible for that. Everything else, like perhaps the injury list, is not a topic of discussion for me," emphasized the coach.
