Raum and his buddy Henrichs would regret Olmo's departure

The two German international footballers David Raum and Benjamin Henrichs would regret the departure of Spain's European champion Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. "If he were to leave, it would be a huge loss," said Raum in a media session after training with the Saxon Bundesliga club. "He's a top player. Of course, you always like having him in the team." Should he move to FC Barcelona, however, they would also be happy for Olmo: "Because then it's the right move for him."

According to reports, Barcelona will pay a transfer fee of just under 60 million euros. The 26-year-old is considered the dream transfer of Barcelona's sporting director Deco and the new Barça coach Hansi Flick. The channel Esport3 has already published footage via X, formerly Twitter, showing Olmo arriving at the airport.

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Olmo, who was also injury-prone during his time in Leipzig, passed the necessary medical check with the Catalans - and is a "new Barcelona player", as Romano wrote on X. There was initially no official confirmation.

Olmo had previously returned to Leipzig with his advisor after his vacation on Monday. He has been playing for RB since the start of 2020 and his contract is valid until June 30, 2027. At FC Barcelona, where he played as a youth player, he is set to receive a contract until June 30, 2030, according to reports.

"I am very close with Dani. First and foremost, I would miss the person," Henrichs said. Last year, they spent their vacation together and initially planned to do the same this year. However, due to Germany's quarter-final exit at the European Championship - also thanks to Olmos' goal - against the eventual title winners Spain, it didn't work out this time.

"If he were to make the move, I would be very happy. Dani has brutal qualities as a footballer and he would definitely deserve it," emphasized Henrichs. When asked whether Olmo had already said goodbye to the team, Raum replied: "We were happy to see him. Whether he said goodbye, I don't know now."
