Pro ice hockey player Dane Fox was hit on the head by an opponent's skate and suffered a bloody cut. The Dresdner Eislöwen player then had to go to hospital. However, the Canadian is responsive and was able to leave the ice himself, as his club announced.
"What a fighter! Foxy is out of the hospital," the club later posted on Facebook. The club also posted a photo of Fox with a large plaster over his left eye.
Because of the incident and the traces of blood on the ice, the second period of the DEL2 leaders' game against EV Landshut on Tuesday evening was ended early. The 19 remaining seconds were made up at the start of the third period. The Saxons took the win 3-2 after overtime even without their top scorer.
