Union Berlin coach Bo Svensson could be missing from the bench for the Köpenicker's game at RB Leipzig due to an infection. "He was still on the pitch yesterday. He then caught it overnight," said his assistant coach Babak Keyhanfar at the press conference ahead of the game in Leipzig on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky). "We all hope he'll be back by Saturday. But until then, we'll do our best to prepare the team well for the game." Keyhanfar and the Dane have been working together for seven years.
This means that neither head coach will be on the touchline for the clash. Leipzig's Marco Rose was shown a yellow card in the 3-2 win in the top match at Bayer Leverkusen and will only be able to watch the game against Union from the stands.
Warning against a confident Leipzig
Keyhanfar does not want to attach too much importance to the absence. "I don't think it plays a big role in a game," said the 39-year-old. Of course, the ideal situation would be for the head coach to be present. But Rose also has a very well-coordinated coaching team.
RB are brimming with self-confidence after 15 competitive games without defeat across the season, said Keyhanfar. The team has great quality. "We have to bring the whole range with us on Saturday when we get there to counter them," he said. "It's a big challenge for us to hold our own as a team against such a top team." Union have picked up four points from their first two league games.
