Striker Timo Werner is likely to stay at Tottenham Hotspur. The English Premier League club and Werner's parent club RB Leipzig are currently negotiating a loan extension. This is reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. According to the report, the 57-time international is to be loaned to the Londoners on the same terms until the end of June 2025. This would leave a purchase option for 17 million.
This would not be an ideal solution for Leipzig. By loaning him to Tottenham in January, the club had actually hoped to draw the attention of potential buyers to Werner, who still has a contract until 2026. The Saxons also have to generate a transfer surplus this summer and are reliant on transfer fees for their loan players. Werner made 13 appearances in the Premier League, but missed the last five games due to a thigh injury.
Another Leipzig loan problem looks set to be resolved soon. According to a "Bild" report, Spaniard Angeliño will join AS Roma on a permanent deal. A transfer fee of five million euros is due for the left-back, which will be paid in several installments. Leipzig have also loaned out striker André Silva (San Sebastián) and midfielder Ilaix Moriba (FC Getafe).
On the transfer front, there are growing signs that Bilal El Khannouss will join from KRC Genk. The 20-year-old confirmed to Het Nieuwsblad that he would move in the summer. "I would choose Germany. A club that has something to do with energy drinks? That would be possible and nice to do that with Maarten," said the midfielder. Goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt will move from Genk to Leipzig on July 1. The 22-year-old had already been signed two years ago for ten million euros, but continued to gain match practice at his youth club.
