Jason George was found to have doped a while ago, and now there is a verdict. He will not be allowed to play basketball again until summer 2025.

Two-time national basketball player Jason George has been banned for two years and four months for an anti-doping rule violation. The wing player, who was on loan from FC Bayern Munich to the Niners Chemnitz at the time, was found to have tested abnormal during match and training tests by the National Anti Doping Agency (Nada) at the end of April 2023.

According to Nada, George, who was regarded as one of the greatest talents in German basketball, was found to have used the substances methylenedioxymethamfetamine (a category of narcotic drugs) and methamfetamine (also known as crystal meth) in a competition test. However, there had been no intentional violation of the German Basketball Federation's anti-doping rules.

Bar ends at the end of August 2025

George's ban, which according to Nada had cooperated from the outset, began on September 20, 2024 and ends after taking into account the provisional suspension imposed on April 28, 2023. This means that George could play again in the 2025/26 season.

"I sincerely thank everyone involved in this process," George (23) was quoted as saying in the Nada statement. "Although my ego was initially in denial and broken, I can confirm that this incident was the greatest gift of my life. For the first time, I had the time to process unprocessed situations from my life and career and thus heal long-lasting wounds."
