The Chemnitz Niners have announced a surprising player swap. Khyri Thomas, who was only signed a week ago, has returned to the USA for family reasons and without having played a game for the Saxon basketball club. As Chemnitz had not yet officially announced Thomas, a replacement was immediately signed until the end of the season: Jacob Gilyard.
At just 1.75 meters tall, the 26-year-old American is the smallest player ever to have played for the Niners. However, he is known for his playmaking qualities and quick hands. Over the past two and a half years, the point guard has played 422 games in the NBA's top basketball league and 89 games in the G-League.
"We are very happy that we were able to reach an agreement so quickly and that Jacob has already arrived here. He is considered an exceptionally talented point guard with great game intelligence and strong ball handling, who is very team-oriented and has a reputation as an exemplary teammate," Niners coach Rodrigo Pastore said in a press release from the club.
