Laura Nolte secures victory in the Monobob World Cup in Altenberg, ahead of Elana Meyers Taylor and Lisa Buckwitz. Maureen Zimmer in sixth place.

World champion Laura Nolte has won the Monobob World Cup in Altenberg, Saxony. The Olympic two-woman bobsleigh champion from BSC Winterberg overtook the leading US pilot Elana Meyers Taylor in the second run on Saturday and was 0.23 seconds ahead after two runs. Third place went to Lisa Buckwitz from BRC Thüringen, who already has four wins this season and continues to lead the overall World Cup. Maureen Zimmer from BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg finished sixth.

"I'm very happy that I was able to do well with the conditions here and that things are going in the right direction with the monobob," said Nolte, whose first win of the season in this discipline brings her closer to overall leader Buckwitz (1468) with 1355 points. The World Cup final is in Lake Placid in mid-March. "A conciliatory end, didn't get out of the nine so well twice. The straight is particularly important in the mono, I missed it twice," said Buckwitz.
