Marco Rose has promised new national coach Julian Nagelsmann his full support. But RB Leipzig's head coach believes it is primarily the players' duty "to bring out the best possible for Germany. But, full support for Julian in the hope that we get results, develop well and play a successful home European Championship next year," Rose said on Friday at the press conference before the German Cup winner's match on Saturday (15:30/Sky) in Gladbach.

Rose thinks the choice of the German Football Association (DFB) for a "young national coach is right, now we just do it. We have the courage, Julian has the courage, I find that overall remarkable." Rose emphasized that "Julian's quality as a coach is undisputed." He also said the quality of "our players is better than what we've seen in terms of results and games in recent weeks and months. In the end, it's up to the guys to bring that to the field and call it off."

Whether it is an advantage for the Leipzig internationals around striker Timo Werner, who has just been sorted out, that Nagelsmann knows them from the RB period (2019-2021), Rose denied. "I assume that the national coach is trying to nominate the best German players for the national team. We would be happy if many of us are part of it. The guys themselves are responsible for that and of course we are here with our work," the 47-year-old said.
