The handball players of Thüringer HC have celebrated their first home win of the Bundesliga season. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller defeated Sport-Union Neckarsulm by 27:24 (15:14). In front of 1,168 spectators, Natsuki Aizawa scored eight goals to become the best scorer for THC, which now has 6:2 points after its third win of the season.
The club from Thuringia got off to a sluggish start and quickly trailed 3:0. It was not until just under seven minutes into the game that they scored their first goal. The visitors not only made life difficult for the THC with their offensive cover, they also impressed with a wide variety of shots in attack and deservedly led 8:5 after 15 minutes.
The home side then stepped up the pace, but continued to make mistakes and Neckarsulm was able to maintain its lead until 13:10. In the final phase of the first half, the THC's nimble playmaker Aizawa turned on the heat and secured a flattering lead for her team at the break.
Goalkeeper Eckerle with 14 saves
In the second half, the Thuringians stepped up their intensity in defense and were also able to rely on the increasingly strong goalkeeper Dinah Eckerle, who made a total of 14 saves. After winning possession, the THC now switched gears at lightning speed and produced a 7:0 run to move from 19:16 to 26:16 (47' minute) in the space of seven minutes. Although the home side hardly managed anything in attack after that, the victory was no longer in serious danger.
