The Thüringer HC women's handball team won the Central German derby. The THC players kept the upper hand on Saturday at BSV Sachsen Zwickau with 28:23 (12:13) and have established themselves in the upper third of the Bundesliga table with their third win of the season. Annika Lott (6), Johanna Reichert, Vilma Matthijs Holmberg (5 each) and Nathalie Hendrikse (4/2) played the biggest part in the success. For the hosts, more than half of all goals were scored by Ema Hrvatin (12/6). The BSV remains after the fourth defeat of the season in the relegation zone.

The first 30 minutes were balanced for long stretches. After trailing 1:3 (5th), the hosts led 10:8 in the 21st minute. The underdog maintained the lead until 14:12 (31st). With five goals in a row within six minutes, THC turned the deficit into a 17:14 advantage. The guests punished the technical mistakes of the Zwickau women, scoring a total of seven goals after fast counterattacks. Although BSV came back to within 17:18 (43.), the Thuringians made the derby victory perfect with another intermediate spurt to 24:19 (52.).
