The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau were unable to secure an unexpected point in their fight to stay in the league. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges lost their game at second-placed Borussia Dortmund 25:31 (11:15) after a great fight.
The team from Saxony remains in acute danger of relegation after its tenth defeat of the season. Mareike Kusian (10/1), Emma Olsson (5) and Haruno Sasaki (5/3) played the biggest part in the hosts' success. Laura Szabo (8/5), Kaho Nakayama and Arwen Gorb (4 each) scored the most goals for Zwickau.
The visitors got off to a perfect start and led 4:2 in the sixth minute. Dortmund turned the game around with four goals in succession and pulled away from 6:4 (12th minute) to 12:7 (21st minute). The home side did not let this lead slip from their grasp. Zwickau was only able to reduce the deficit to 20:24 (53'), but no longer put the runners-up in the table in danger.
