Dynamo Dresden remain top of the table in the 3rd Football League. Late on Tuesday evening, a goalless draw against the second team of Borussia Dortmund was enough for the Saxons. Because Saarbrücken lost in Bielefeld, the Saxons now have a two-point lead at the top.
Compared to the flattering 1-0 win against Alemannia Aachen last Saturday, coach Thomas Stamm made two changes to his starting XI. Vinko Sapina made his comeback from injury in front of the back four, while Aljaz Casar was given the chance to prove himself in attacking midfield alongside captain Niklas Hauptmann. Lukas Boeder and Tony were on the bench for the time being.
Dresden were the dominant team in front of 24,114 spectators at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion during the first 45 minutes. Eight goalscoring opportunities, some of them good, and ten corners were evidence of the clear superiority of the home side, whose only failing was their effectiveness. Dortmund were only able to make a few pinpricks, but almost took the lead through Michael Eberwein (41').
After the break, SGD remained the more active team for the time being. However, unlike in the first half, they now lacked a compelling approach to the opposing goal. Both coaches made full use of their substitution quota. However, neither team was able to use the fresh impetus to score a decisive goal.
