Saxony performs well in a nationwide comparison of all-day care for primary school children. But the offer should be further improved.

The opportunities for all-day care for primary school children are to be further expanded in Saxony. The federal government is providing the Free State with 148 million euros in funding for this purpose, the Ministry of Culture announced. Of this, 90 million euros have already been approved. The money will be used to renovate, rebuild and expand primary and special schools as well as after-school care centers.

It is mainly about the qualitative expansion of all-day care. The rate of all-day care for children of primary school age in Saxony is already around 90 percent. This is well above the national average of 47.5 percent.
