On Thursday, the Leipzig criminal investigation department searched a pub and seized drugs and other evidence. An arrest followed.

On Thursday, 06.03.2025, investigators from the Leipzig criminal investigation department, together with officers from the Central Services Inspectorate, carried out a search in a pub on Eisenbahnstraße in Leipzig, Volkmarsdorf. The operation took place on the basis of an existing search warrant, which had been applied for at Leipzig District Court on suspicion of illicit trafficking in narcotics and approved by an investigating judge.

The operation was the result of a long-term investigation, which indicated that drugs were being trafficked in this bar. At around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, the officers entered the bar, supported by two narcotics detection dogs. During the operation, the officers observed a person throwing a bag out of the window into the courtyard, which later contained narcotics.

In the course of the search, a 42-year-old Lebanese suspect was arrested. The officers found heroin, marijuana and cash amounting to several hundred euros on him. Further searches in the premises revealed drug paraphernalia as well as large quantities of marijuana, cocaine and crystal meth. A locked safe was also seized.

Significant quantities of various drugs were also discovered in a room in Eutritzscher Straße, which is assigned to the suspect: over 300 grams of heroin, more than 200 grams of cocaine, around 70 grams of marijuana, around 20 grams of crystal meth and over 40 grams of amphetamine. The 42-year-old was then provisionally arrested by order of the Leipzig public prosecutor's office and transferred to the central police custody.

After the police measures were completed, the Leipzig city regulatory service was called in to check whether the bar should be banned from trading immediately. The city regulatory service ordered the immediate closure of the pub and it was sealed. In addition, the trade licensing office discovered irregularities in two slot machines and the machines were seized.

The investigation into this case is still ongoing. Further steps will follow in order to track down all backgrounds and possible participants in the drug trafficking network.
