A visit to a restaurant or hotel and a winter check for cars and bicycles have become more expensive in Saxony. The inflation rate increased again in October.

The inflation rate in Saxony has risen slightly again. According to preliminary figures, the annual inflation rate in October was 2.8 percent, 0.4 points higher than in September, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Kamenz. Compared to October 2023, people had to pay significantly more for restaurant and accommodation services (up 6.9 percent) and for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (up 4.4 percent).

People also had to dig deeper into their pockets for winter checks on their cars. Wheel changes (up 10.1 percent), inspections (up 8.1 percent), car washes (up 6.7 percent) and the purchase of car tires (up 7.0 percent) all became more expensive. However, the price of a bicycle inspection before the start of the darker season also rose by 8.5 percent.
