Following the semi-final of the DFB Cup between RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart, there was a serious altercation that is currently making waves. The source of the conflict is said to have been a 1. FC Lok Leipzig sticker that a fan had placed in the exit area of the guest block. Two RB fans then allegedly robbed him of his headphones and jacket.
The incident called the security service to the scene, whose intervention was described by eyewitnesses as excessively harsh. The already tense situation escalated further when other fans showed solidarity with the perpetrators. The Stuttgart police, who were investigating 15 fans for various offenses such as robbery, assault and breach of the peace, were forced to intervene with batons and pepper spray. There were injuries on both sides, including a 26-year-old police officer, two security guards and four RB fans.
After the incident, 107 Red Bulls fans were temporarily detained to establish their identity. They were allowed to return home after a few hours, while 15 people are still under investigation.
The RB Leipzig club also commented on the incident. The club is currently working on the incident in close consultation with the relevant authorities and reserves the right to impose sanctions. The club clearly distances itself from any form of violence and criminal behavior, which is considered absolutely unacceptable.
