The Leipzig Book Fair invites literature fans to the industry's spring festival. On the first day of the fair, the award ceremony for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize takes center stage.

The Leipzig Book Fair opens its doors to visitors this Thursday (10.00 a.m.). Until Sunday, 2,040 exhibitors from 45 countries will be presenting their new book-related products. Norway is this year's guest country. Numerous authors from Germany and abroad can be experienced live at the fair and the accompanying reading festival "Leipzig reads".

The Leipzig Book Fair Prize will be awarded on Thursday afternoon. This year's nominees in the fiction category are Christian Kracht ("Air"), Wolf Haas ("Wackelkontakt"), Kristine Bilkau ("Halbinsel"), Cemile Sahin ("Kommando Ajax") and Esther Dischereit ("Ein Haufen Dollarscheine"). The prize is also awarded in the categories of non-fiction/essay writing and translation.
