The traditional winter exhibition "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" at Moritzburg Castle near Dresden is heading towards the 1.5 million visitor mark in its 13th year. The anniversary guest in the show based on the popular fairytale film classic is expected next Saturday. According to the State Palace Administration, the presentation with insights into filming, original costumes, props and recreated scenes is proving very popular.
Castle also popular in winter thanks to Cinderella
With between 120,000 and 130,000 guests a year, the former princely hunting lodge has also been an attraction in the winter months since 2009 thanks to Cinderella, and not just for fans. However, there have been three breaks - due to a redesign and the coronavirus pandemic. The baroque castle of Saxon Elector Augustus the Strong (1670-1733) was a filming location for the German-Czech co-production from 1972/1973, which became a cult and has been part of the Christmas television program for over 40 years.
