Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki provided a musical highlight in Dresden with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. The exceptional musician performed Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Concertos No. 2 and No. 4 in the Philharmonic Hall at the Kulturpalast, also conducting the British orchestra from the piano. At the end, the 29-year-old was celebrated like a pop star in the sold-out hall.
The program was completed with a work by the British composer Anna Clyne, born in 1980, whose piece "Stride" for string orchestra was inspired by a piano sonata by Beethoven. Lisiecki impressed with his technical brilliance and had excellent partners at his side in the orchestral musicians. The performance in Dresden concluded a series of concerts in Germany that began on January 7 in Munich.
