What was planned as a quiet weekend turns out to be much more dramatic than expected. The 500th episode of "SOKO Leipzig" is about life and death - and revenge.

The 500th episode of "SOKO Leipzig" is supposed to be a relaxing one for chief inspector Ina Zimmermann, played by Melanie Marschke: A yoga weekend with colleagues is on the agenda. But "SOKO Leipzig" wouldn't be one of the most successful crime series on German television if the anniversary episode "Namasté" wasn't a completely different story. It can be seen today at 9.15 pm on ZDF.

Idyll in the heath - drama in Leipzig's city center

While the women want to relax in the idyllic Dahlener Heide with exercises such as archery, drama is unfolding in Leipzig's city center. A prisoner transporter is attacked. A member of the judiciary is killed and a prisoner is freed. The prisoner is the arms dealer Kolja Sendko (Peter Miklusz), who is out for revenge. Things quickly become dangerous - even for the quartet of women around Inspector Ina Zimmermann in the Heide.

Next season to come in the fall

The 500th episode will also mark the end of the 25th season of the Friday crime series. The production company has announced that it will continue with new episodes in the fall. The series is produced by UFA Fiction for ZDF.

"SOKO Leipzig" began its work in 2001. It was the first offshoot of the long-established "SOKO 5113", which had been solving criminal cases on German television since the late 1970s. Currently, the "SOKO Leipzig Team" consists of the head Zimmermann and the detectives Jan Maybach (Marco Girnth), Moritz Brenner (Johannes Hendrik Langer) and Kim Nowak (Amy Mußul).
