The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Saxony has published a guide to finding solutions for solar installations on monuments that are compatible with listed buildings.

The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Saxony has published guidelines for the installation of solar systems on monuments. The aim is to provide information on how to find solutions that are as compatible as possible with monuments, taking into account the values to be preserved in each case, as the Saxon State Conservator, Alf Furkert, said in a statement on Sunday. "We are also committed to the task of preserving our cultural monuments in the way we shape energy security and climate protection."

Solar and photovoltaic systems are technical installations that in many cases cannot be easily reconciled with the defining features of a cultural monument. There is often a field of tension between the expectations of the monument owner and those of monument protection and preservation.
