Saxony's economic output fell in the first half of the year. Compared to the same period last year, the gross domestic product shrank by 0.7 percent adjusted for price, according to the State Statistical Office in Kamenz. This means that the development in the Free State was more negative than nationwide (minus 0.2 percent).
In six other federal states, the economy actually grew. The largest growth in economic output was in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (plus 3.1 percent), while the largest decline was in Baden-Württemberg (minus 1.3 percent).
