Bureaucracy is flourishing in many administrations. There are repeated calls to reduce the mass of regulations. The Alliance Germany has concrete proposals for this.

The small party Bündnis Deutschland is calling for a radical reduction in bureaucracy in Saxony. "Bureaucracy must be punished, the state must be hurt and citizens must be reimbursed for unnecessary expenses," party leader Steffen Große told the German Press Agency. His party wants new legislation to be limited in time and, if necessary, extended after a simple effectiveness test. For every new regulation, two old ones should be deleted.

According to Große, it has long been standard practice for the administration to calculate the compliance costs of new legislation. "This makes it clear what it costs to implement new administrative requirements and what local authorities, for example, can claim from the Minister of Finance as reimbursement for personnel and material costs. Citizens do not have this option and we want to give it to them."

The party chairman gave examples of the need to reduce bureaucracy. For example, in order to obtain a death certificate for a relative, you have to prove that the deceased was born beforehand. "You have to present a birth certificate and pay for it. That's completely crazy. This service must be free or fully tax-deductible. Why isn't it enough to present the deceased's ID?" asked his party's leading candidate for the state elections on September 1.

The same applies if you want to enter into a new, second marriage, said Große. Here, too, you would not only have to provide the divorce document, but also proof of your own birth, which would require a certificate for a fee. "Complete nonsense and a prime example of bureaucracy," criticized Große. "How are you supposed to realize your wish to get married if you weren't born? Why isn't it enough to present your identity card to the registrar?"

Große also commented on possible cooperation with other parties in the future: the party leader did not rule out a future merger with the Werteunion. With a view to the upcoming state elections, however, this is not yet an issue, but rather at the federal elections next year. The Alliance Germany played no role in the European elections on June 9. In Saxony, it achieved 0.6 percent. Große describes Bündnis Deutschland, which was founded at the end of 2022, as liberal and conservative.
