3:0 against Verl: Dynamo Dresden takes the lead in the table

Dynamo Dresden have retaken the lead in the third soccer league. The autumn champions won 3:0 (1:0) against SC Verl on matchday 26 and also benefited from the 2:1 home defeat of previous leaders Energie Cottbus against VfL Osnabrück. In front of 27,030 spectators at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, Christoph Daferner put the home side ahead in the eighth minute and Niklas Hauptmann (57) and Dominik Kother (72) followed up.

After the 1-0 defeat at Hansa Rostock last weekend, Dresden coach Thomas Stamm's side started brightly and took an early lead through Daferner's 15th goal of the season. The goalscorer headed a cross from Sascha Risch into the far corner (8').

Baur fails to score from the penalty spot

Dynamo failed to add a second goal as the game progressed. After half an hour, the visitors got into the game better, but were unable to create any major danger for the Dresden box. Even after the break, Dresden allowed their opponents to control the ball and relied on counter-attacks, one of which Hauptmann finished off in the 57th minute.

Nine minutes later, Mika Bauer missed a penalty to prevent an early decision. Kother, who had just come on as a substitute, then made sure of that in the 72nd minute with a dry shot into the far corner. Verl's Eduard Probst hit the crossbar in the 89th minute.
