Despite other plans, FC Erzgebirge Aue has once again become active on the transfer market. The third division club signed striker Maximilian Schmidt from 1. FC Köln. According to the club, the 21-year-old impressed in trial training and is seen as an "additional offensive option".
The 1.84-metre attacker won the German championship with Cologne U17 in 2019 and, after signing a professional contract in 2023/24, was loaned out to Dutch second division club Roda Kerkrade.
"We are looking forward to signing an ambitious 21-year-old who has the potential for higher tasks and is nowhere near the end of his development. Maximilian Schmid will add a new variety to our attacking play," said sporting director Matthias Heidrich.
