The Saxons conceded a clear defeat against leaders Bayern Munich and suffered a setback in the battle for direct qualification for the play-offs.

The Niners Chemnitz basketball team have suffered a setback in their battle for a direct place in the play-offs. The charges of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore conceded a clear 72:94 (42:42) defeat against leaders Bayern Munich in front of their home crowd on Sunday.

Andreas Obst (18), Niels Giffey (15), Johannes Voigtmann (13), Shabazz Napier (11), Carsen Edwards and Vladimir Lucic (10 each) played the biggest part in the visitors' 14th win of the season. Only Jacob Gilyard (18) and Olivier Nkamhoua (16) scored in double figures for the Saxons.

The home side dominated the opening spell and pulled 28:19 ahead in the 14th minute. Munich turned the game around with a 17:5 run to make it 36:33 in the 19th minute. The Niners were ahead for the last time in the encounter (50:49 in the 23rd minute). The Bavarians broke Chemnitz' last resistance with a run of 19:3 to make it 68:53 in the 29th minute and then cruised to an unchallenged victory. The visitors dominated under the boards (47:30 rebounds) and drained half of their shots from the floor. Chemnitz only managed a shooting percentage of 38 percent.
