After the clear semi-final exit against Stuttgart, the future DSC team will look different. Only one regular player has a valid contract.

After the clear elimination in the play-off semi-finals, volleyball Bundesliga club Dresdner SC is once again facing a personnel shake-up. Coach Alexander Waibl's team lost twice in two games to the overpowering defending champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart 3-0 and finished in third place for the third time in a row. Not enough for the high standards on the Elbe. "It was the wrong opponent for us at the wrong time. Stuttgart's play is world class. In this form, they are unbeatable for us," said Waibl. Nevertheless, he is not dissatisfied with the season, especially as he and his charges will be back in the European Cup next year.

However, the face of the team will change significantly in the summer. So far, only setter Sarah Straube has extended her contract. The contracts of all six other players are due to expire. It is already certain that Grace Frohling and Tia Jimerson will return home after just one year in Dresden to play in the new professional league in the USA (League One Volleyball). The future of team captain Jennifer Janiska, who has been at the net for the DSC since 2020, is also uncertain. The same goes for Aleksandra Jegdic, Hester Jasper and Nathalie Lemmens, who only signed one-year contracts last summer.

"We have a team for next year that will look a little different to this season. But I don't think we need to worry about our future as a DSC, I'm more concerned about how the Bundesliga as a whole will continue," said the 56-year-old Waibl in view of the financial problems that many Bundesliga clubs are facing.
