FC Hansa Rostock ends drought with win against FC Erzgebirge Aue

FC Hansa Rostock have ended a 57-year drought and won in Aue for the first time. The Kogge defeated FC Erzgebirge 2:1 (1:1) in the third division clash. Kilian Jakob had put the hosts ahead after 12 minutes in front of 13,218 spectators. Norwegian Sigurd Haugen (32') equalized before Ahmet Gürleyen (90.+1) scored the winner. Aue's Ali Loune was shown a yellow card in the 75th minute.

Both teams neutralized each other for long stretches of the first half. After the 2-0 defeat in Cologne a week ago, Aue tried to bring calmness and security to their own game, attempting to lure the compact Rostock side into possession. They rarely succeeded.

The lead resulted from the first chance for the Violets. Benjamin Uphoff in the Hansa goal undercut a long cross from Pascal Fallmann and Jakob finished artistically in the air with a left-footed shot. The subsequent Auer attacks were dangerous, but were unsuccessful.

Hansa get more grip after 20 minutes

After 20 minutes, the visitors made their first attempts to attack. Ryan Naderi (24) missed after breaking through, Haugen (31) hoped in vain for a penalty in a promising position before doing better a minute later. After a feed from Nico Neidhart, he scored just as artistically as Jakob before him with a side-footed shot.

Aue tried to respond immediately, but neither Marcel Bär (33) nor Marvin Stefaniak (39) were able to turn good opportunities into something tangible.

Aue too slow after the break

The second half began with a shock moment for the hosts. After twelve seconds, a long-range shot from Cedric Harenbrock hit the inside of the post, but bounced back into the box. This action gave Hansa confidence.

The Rostockers now played more offensively and with more structure. Haugen (55) failed to beat Aue goalkeeper Martin Männel. Nothing came from the Erzgebirge for a long time because they worked too slowly and without ideas in midfield. Only after just under an hour was there any danger for Uphoff when a deflected Stefaniak free-kick flew just over the goal. Hansa were lucky when Fallmann missed from inside the five-metre box in the 65th minute.

The hosts then had more of the play until they were sent off, with Rostock only waking up when they were outnumbered. It then became dangerous several times in the Auer penalty area. In stoppage time, a header from a corner decided the game.
