Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach will be without regular starter Philipp Sander as well as suspended top striker Tim Kleindienst for the home game against RB Leipzig. The 27-year-old midfielder has been unable to train for the past two weeks due to a severe infection and is still not performing well, said coach Gerardo Seoane. "He won't be involved at the weekend."
Rocco Reitz could make his starting XI comeback as a substitute. The U21 international last came on as a substitute in the Bundesliga after a long period of problems with his big toe and had also played for the junior national team. Before Reitz's injury, he and Sander had been competing for the vacant place on the double-six alongside Julian Weigl.
Tiago Pereira Cardoso will be back in goal. The 18-year-old will play because both regular keeper Moritz Nicolas and his replacement Jonas Omlin are still out. "We see the youngster as very motivated and with a clear personality," said Seoane. The coach also called for support for Cardoso from his experienced players.
