Handball Bundesliga team HSV Hamburg triumphs 33:29 against ThSV Eisenach. License decision for 2024/25 imminent.

Handball Bundesliga team HSV Hamburg has won its home game against ThSV Eisenach. The Hanseatic team prevailed 33:29 (19:13) on Wednesday. On Thursday, an arbitration court in Hanover will decide on Hamburg's license for the 2024/25 season. So far, the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) has denied the North Germans the right to play.

The visitors from Eisenach, who had already lost the first leg in their own arena (28:32) and the round of 16 in the DHB Cup (28:31), fluffed the start in front of 3669 spectators in the Sporthalle Hamburg. The team of Head Coach Misha Kaufmann trailed 1:5 in the 8th minute. Playmaker Leif Tissier and right wing Frederik Bo Andersen in particular set the tone for the home side.

Even after the break, Eisenach initially lacked the means to stop the home side. The comeback then came too late. The best scorers in the game were Leif Tissier with eight goals for Hamburg and Manuel Zehnder with twelve goals for the Thuringians.

After the game, HSVH said goodbye to eight players. Dani Baijens, Thies Bergemann, Jens Vortmann, Dino Corak, Martin Risom, Max Niemann, Alexander Pinski and Lennard Benkendorf are leaving the club at the end of the season.

While the club from Wartburg awaits Füchse Berlin on Sunday (4.30 p.m./Dyn) to round off the season, Hamburg travels to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten. The court of arbitration will decide on Thursday whether it will be the last game of the season or in the Bundesliga for the Hanseats.
