The Luge World Championships begin this Friday in Altenberg. The medals in the sprint races will be awarded on the opening day. At last year's home World Championships in Oberhof, the German lugers won all four sprint titles, with eight winners in the nine competitions coming from Germany. The SachsenEnergie Eiskanal continues on Saturday with the men's singles, among others. The title fights end on Sunday with the decision in the team relay. National coach Norbert Loch wants to win precious metal, but does not want to measure the sporting achievements by the number of medals. "The important thing is that the performances are delivered," says the 61-year-old.
