The MBC Syntainics basketball team dropped two important points in the battle to stay in the league. The club from Weißenfels lost its game at tenth-placed EWE Baskets Oldenburg by 88:95 (48:42) on Saturday. After their third defeat in a row, the club from Central Germany is still only four points clear of the relegation zone. Len Schoormann (22), Artur Konontsuk (18), Geno Crandall and Norris Agbakoko (11 each) played the biggest part in Oldenburg's success. Charles Callison (21), Johnathan Stove (18) and Martin Breunig (12) scored the most points for the visitors.
The club from Weißenfels missed the start and trailed 30:40 after 16 minutes. The visitors turned the encounter around before the break with an 18:2 run and fought a duel on equal terms with Oldenburg well into the fourth quarter. With the score at 86:88 (36'), the MBC was still able to hope for its ninth win of the season. However, Weißenfels was then unable to finish any of its six attacks successfully. Oldenburg pulled 93:86 ahead in the 39th minute and ultimately won thanks to its accuracy from beyond the arc. 15 out of 40 attempts landed in Weißenfels' basket. The club from Central Germany was only able to convert six of its 29 shots from beyond the arc.
