The Niners Chemnitz basketball team continued its run of success and remained unbeaten for the ninth game in a row thanks to Wesley van Beck's last-second lay-up. The club from Saxony won its game at Würzburg Baskets by 70:68 (32:39) on Saturday and so cemented its place at the top of the German Basketball League. Apart from van Beck (13 points), Jeff Garrett (18), DeAndre Lansdowne (15) and Aher Uguak (11) played the biggest part in the victory. Otis Livingstone II (19), Darius Perry (14) and Zachary Seljaas (13) scored in double figures for Würzburg.
However, Chemnitz's fourth success in a row in the German league hung by a thread until the very last second. After a successful start (10:4 in the 6th minute), the visitors fell behind by 13:20 in the 10th minute and trailed for a long time due to a poor shooting percentage from close range (just 17 shots on 40 attempts). With a 13:4 run from 44:51 (30') to 57:55 (35'), the club from Saxony turned the game around and even went 66:60 (39') in front. However, Würzburg equalized shortly before the buzzer to make it 68:68. The Niners snatched victory out of the fire with their last shot.
