Coach Rodrigo Pastore does not see resigning from the struggling basketball team Niners Chemnitz as an option. "I'm not giving up. I'm not like that. Otherwise I wouldn't have lasted longer than four games in my first season with the Niners in the Pro A," the Argentinian told the "Freie Presse". Back then, his team lost three of its first four games. The team currently has two wins from nine games.
The derby win against the Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels has allowed the European Cup winners to break free somewhat. However, the clear defeat against Bonn has left its mark. "The more difficult, the better. And it's the difficult situations in which we as coaches have the chance to show our true worth," said Pastore. "It's easy to be a good coach in a team where everything works perfectly."
The coach and management are currently scouting the market for a leading player. Jaron Johnson was supposed to take over this role as the successor to Wes Van Beck, but "this assumption turned out to be wrong". Since they can only bring in a maximum of three players, the challenge, according to Pastore, is not to make a mistake.
