The Thuringian Bundesliga handball team did not shine in Oldenburg, but ultimately prevailed in commanding fashion - although the top scorer remained pale for a long time.

The women's handball club Thüringer HC has recorded its sixth away win of the Bundesliga season. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller prevailed 29:25 (14:12) in front of 1,456 spectators at VfL Oldenburg on Wednesday evening. The best scorers for the THC, who now have 25:9 points, were outside players Nathalie Hendrikse and Rikke Hoffbeck Petersen with five goals each.

The Thuringians were initially very compact defensively, but made too many mistakes in offense and so failed to open up an early gap. Both teams stepped up the pace from the tenth minute onwards. The THC repeatedly benefited from brilliant passes by its director Natsuki Aizawa and pulled 11:8 ahead by the 20th minute. However, the visitors were then repeatedly thwarted by Madita Kohorst.

Oldenburg's goalkeeper also shone after the break with strong saves and ensured that the Thuringians were not able to pull away. VfL even got as close as one goal in the 50th minute (21:22). However, the visitors held their nerve. The hitherto hapless league top scorer Johanna Reichert took on more responsibility in the final phase and gave the THC a decisive 27:24 lead in the 58th minute.
