The Bundesliga handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig clearly missed the second away win in a row. Three days after the 28:22 victory in Lemgo, the team of coach Runar Sigtryggsson collapsed at the SG Flensburg-Handewitt on Wednesday night after the break and lost 24:34 (14:16). Thus, SC DHfK must continue to wait for its first win in Flensburg since the Bundesliga promotion in 2015. In front of 5943 spectators, Viggo Kristjansson and Matej Klima advanced with five goals each to the best throwers of SC DHfK, which now stands at 5:11 points. Franz Semper was against his ex-club for initiative, but hit only two of 13 throws.
The Leipzigers started confidently and quickly earned a 3:1 lead (5th minute). Flensburg needed somewhat longer, in order to find into the play, managed it with increasing playing time however ever better to pull apart the defense of the guests with fast pass play. Sigtryggsson reacted to the SG's 10:8 (16th) with a goalkeeper change and brought on Kristian Saeveras for the hapless Domenico Ebner. Also thanks to the Norwegian the Leipziger remained up to the half time at the Flensburgern to it.
After the break the hosts put furiously loose and set off with a 4:1 run on 20:15 (34.). The Leipzigers now rarely found a way through against the strong SG defense or failed against the brilliant goalkeeper Kevin Möller. Flensburg controlled the action at all times and continuously extended its lead until 33:22 (58.).
